About Ancient Thera
Ancient Thera occupies a long ridge 360 m above Kamari and Perissa, settled from the 9th century BC and rebuilt under the Ptolemies and Romans. Streets, houses, a theatre, agora and sanctuaries survive. Access is by a switchback road or a steep footpath from either beach; there is no shade on site.
