About Akrotiri Archaeological Site

Akrotiri was a Cycladic port town destroyed by the Late Bronze Age eruption and sealed under ash, leaving paved streets, drainage and buildings standing to two or three storeys. The site is covered by a modern roof with raised walkways. Frescoes and finds are shown in Fira and Athens.
