About Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa
The Cartoixa began as a royal residence and became a Carthusian monastery, closed in the 19th century and let out as lodgings. Chopin and George Sand stayed here in the winter of 1838-39, and their cells, the pharmacy, cloisters and church are open to visitors.
